Minimum Time Away after Academic Dismissal
UConn’s Senate By-Laws (or rules governing the University) dictate that students can return no sooner than one semester (fall and spring semesters only) after a first dismissal and four semesters after a second dismissal (fall and spring semesters only). However, it is not always possible to return after one semester away from UConn, due to academic requirements, tight timelines, and other requirements of the readmission process.
- First Dismissal: Students who are academically dismissed from the University for the first time may, upon approval, matriculate no sooner than one academic semester (fall or spring) following dismissal, in accordance with the University’s readmission process and deadlines. Winter and Summer intersessions are not included in the calculation of time away.
- Second Dismissal: Students who are academically dismissed from the University for the second time may, upon approval, matriculate no sooner than four semesters following dismissal.
- Third Dismissal: No student will be readmitted to the University after a third academic dismissal.
